Nothing better than clients that become your friends. I first met these two at their wedding. I was lucky to be selected by their coordinator. She felt I was the best fit for them. And… as it turned out I was. We instantly hit it off. Met the next day and trashed the dress… yep, they jumped in the ocean and had a blast.
I had so much fun with this little mermaid. She booked a mermaid lesson with professional photography. We had so much fun. She took to the sea with her tail, never looking back. She was not a fish she was a mermaid! I consider myself a fish. Putting on that tail made her smile from ear to ear. Her brothers weren’t as impressed by the tails. They came out and played. But kept it to snorkeling… they are fish!
So excited to share with you this amazing adventure I was a part of. I have been capturing images of Mermaid Lila for 4 years now. She has her own company that teaches you how to swim like a mermaid, in a TAIL! She also puts on these “Mermaid Retreats” that she invited me to attend as the retreat photographer. I got to capture images of all of the mermaids playing in the ocean. The sea lions were so friendly.
What do you say when you’re told you have to be up at 2:30 AM for a shoot. Honestly I almost fell over, I’m a morning person but 2:30. I have never shot a wedding up on top of Haleakala. OMG… I was so excited, I couldn’t sleep. 2:30 am came and up the hill I went. Met up with Tori Rogers of Hawaii Weddings by Tori Rogers and carpooled to the top of Maui. To Haleakala National Park to meet with Dorri & Frank who wanted to exchange their vows at dawn. With our permits in hand we were ready for them to exchange their vows at 10,023 feet elevation (3055 meters). It was really exciting and cold! Yep, cold!!! Had to bring my gloves without the finger tips on them to shoot their wedding and a beanie!
